Five-time world champions Nigeria will begin their quest for another title with a clash against Benin Republic in Yamoussoukro on Wednesday, marking their first match of the ongoing WAFU-B U17 Championship.
The Golden Eaglets are set to play at the Stade du Lycée Scientifique in Yamoussoukro, Cote d’Ivoire. This tournament also serves as the qualifying event for next year’s Africa U17 Cup of Nations, where Africa’s representatives for the 2026 FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar will be determined.
In Group A, Cote d’Ivoire defeated Niger Republic 2-0, while Togo and Ghana played to a 1-1 draw when the competition kicked off over the weekend.
In Group B, Burkina Faso’s Baby Stallions narrowly overcame Benin Republic 1-0 in the opening match of the three-team group. Group A is comprised of Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, and Niger Republic.
