Gift Orban Joins Amedspor on Season-Long Loan From Hoffenheim

Nigerian striker Gift Orban has completed a season-long loan move from German Bundesliga club Hoffenheim to newly promoted Turkish Super Lig side Amedspor ahead of the 2026/27 season. The agreement includes an option for Amedspor to make the transfer permanent, with the clause capable of becoming an obligation if certain performance conditions are met.

The 24-year-old moves to Turkey in search of consistent playing time after returning to Hoffenheim from a loan spell at Italian club Hellas Verona. Although Orban impressed during parts of his time in Serie A, Hoffenheim received several enquiries for the forward and decided that another loan would provide the best opportunity for his development. Sporting director Paul Pajduch said the striker had attracted interest following his productive campaign in Italy and that Amedspor would offer him the chance to showcase his qualities in a demanding league.

Orban spent the 2025/26 season with Hellas Verona, scoring seven goals and providing two assists in 28 appearances across all competitions. Despite finishing as the club's leading scorer, Verona chose not to activate the purchase option in his contract, leading to his return to Hoffenheim this summer.

Amedspor secured promotion to the Turkish Super Lig after an impressive campaign and have strengthened their squad ahead of their first season in the top flight. Club officials believe Orban's pace, movement and finishing ability will add firepower to their attack as they target survival in the division. The Turkish club officially welcomed the Nigerian after reaching an agreement with Hoffenheim for the loan transfer.

Orban first gained widespread recognition during his prolific spell with Belgian side Gent, where his goalscoring exploits attracted interest from several of Europe's leading clubs. He later joined Olympique Lyon before moving to Hoffenheim in January 2025, scoring four goals in 13 Bundesliga appearances before successive loan spells in Italy and now Turkey.

The move also presents an important opportunity for the former Super Eagles invitee to rediscover his best form. A successful season with Amedspor could strengthen his chances of earning a permanent transfer and put him back in contention for a regular place in Nigeria's national team as the 2026/27 campaign unfolds.
