Getafe have provided the latest indication that Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche remains part of their plans by including him in the club's pre-season training programme.
The 23-year-old Nigerian returned to the Spanish club after his loan spell at Crystal Palace ended last season. The Premier League side decided not to make the move permanent following an underwhelming campaign.
Since returning to Spain, Uche has continued to attract interest from several clubs across Europe. Reports have linked the midfielder with fellow La Liga sides Atlético Madrid, Real Betis and Real Sociedad, while AC Milan and Everton have also been mentioned as potential admirers.
Despite the growing transfer speculation, Getafe shared a video from the team's pre-season training camp showing Uche taking part in fitness sessions with the rest of the squad. The players trained on the beach as part of preparations for the new campaign, with the Nigerian appearing fully involved and in good spirits.
His inclusion in the training sessions suggests head coach José Bordalás is prepared to assess the midfielder during pre-season while the club awaits developments regarding his future.
Getafe have previously made their position on Uche clear. Club president Ángel Torres recently revealed that the Spanish side would like to keep the Nigerian but would consider selling him if an appropriate offer arrives during the summer transfer window.
The club's willingness to negotiate is influenced by financial considerations. Like several La Liga clubs, Getafe must comply with the league's financial regulations, which may require further player sales before the start of the new season.
Getafe have already generated funds by selling two important members of last season's squad, Mauro Arambarri and Luis Milla. However, it remains uncertain whether the reported €9 million raised from those departures will be enough to satisfy the club's financial requirements.
For now, Uche remains a Getafe player and is preparing for the new season with the squad. Unless a suitable bid is submitted in the coming weeks, the Nigerian midfielder is expected to continue working under Bordalás as preparations for the 2026/27 La Liga campaign gather pace.
