Genk prepare record €10m bid for Super Eagles striker Rafiu Durosinmi

Posted : 14 July 2026

Belgian Pro League club Genk are preparing a club-record move for Super Eagles striker Rafiu Durosinmi as they step up efforts to sign the Nigerian from Italian side Pisa during the summer transfer window. Reports in Belgium indicate the four-time league champions are willing to pay around €10 million, with negotiations potentially reaching €10.5 million, to secure the 23-year-old forward.

Durosinmi joined Pisa from Czech club Viktoria Plzeň in January 2026 after establishing himself as one of the most productive strikers in the Czech top flight. During his spell at Plzeň, he scored 35 goals and provided 10 assists in 86 appearances across all competitions, earning interest from several European clubs before his move to Italy.

His first six months in Serie A proved challenging. The Nigerian managed one goal and one assist in 12 league appearances as Pisa were relegated to Serie B. With the Italian club expected to reduce their wage bill and generate funds following relegation, Durosinmi has emerged as one of the leading candidates to leave this summer.

Genk have admired the striker for more than two years and believe his difficult spell in Italy does not reflect his true ability. Club officials reportedly view him as an ideal replacement to continue the tradition of successful Nigerian forwards at the club, following the exploits of Paul Onuachu and Tolu Arokodare. Both strikers developed into prolific scorers in Belgium before securing moves to bigger European leagues.

If the transfer is completed, Durosinmi would become Genk's most expensive signing, surpassing the €7 million the club paid for Théo Bongonda in 2019. Belgian reports suggest Pisa are seeking approximately €10.5 million, while negotiations remain ongoing as both clubs work towards an agreement.

Genk are not alone in the race for the Nigerian international. Turkish side Trabzonspor have maintained a long-standing interest in the striker, while Serie A club Bologna have also been linked with a possible move. The competition for his signature could complicate negotiations despite Genk's determination to complete the deal.

Durosinmi made his senior debut for Nigeria at the Unity Cup earlier this year and has already earned three caps for the Super Eagles. After an injury setback halted a proposed move to Eintracht Frankfurt in the past and an underwhelming spell at Pisa, the striker will hope a fresh start can reignite his career and help him establish himself as a regular in Eric Chelle's national team plans.
