It was a night of dominance in Jos as Plateau United FC delivered a ruthless second-half display to overpower Shooting Stars SC 4–1 in a dramatic Match Day 27 encounter at the New Jos Stadium.
All eyes were on the touchline as former 3SC boss Gbenga Ogunbote faced his old employers for the first time since parting ways.
By the final whistle, the experienced tactician had orchestrated a resounding statement victory.
Fast start, swift response
The visitors, fondly called the Oluyole Warriors, stunned the home crowd early when Qamar Adegoke struck in the 12th minute to hand Shooting Stars a surprise lead. For a brief moment, it looked like Ogunbote’s reunion with his former club might turn sour.
But the Peace Boys responded almost immediately.
Tarabina Biweribo restored parity just two minutes later, igniting the home supporters and shifting momentum firmly in Plateau United’s favour.
Harrison Ebah then compounded 3SC’s woes with a well-taken finish in the 25th minute to give the hosts a 2–1 advantage before halftime.
Second-half control
After the restart, Plateau United tightened their grip on proceedings. Vincent Temitope calmly dispatched a penalty in the 55th minute, extending the lead and effectively deflating the visitors’ resistance.
With confidence flowing, Alao Danbani added the fourth shortly after, putting the result beyond doubt and capping off an emphatic display.
Tactical masterclass
The victory was as much about discipline and structure as it was about goals. Plateau United showed superior organization, intensity, and clinical finishing, while Shooting Stars struggled to recover after conceding twice in quick succession in the first half.
For Ogunbote, it was a sweet triumph against familiar opposition. For Shooting Stars, it was a sobering reminder of the fine margins in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
As Match Day 27 concludes, Plateau United leave Jos with renewed confidence, while the Oluyole Warriors must regroup quickly to avoid further slip-ups in the race for league stability.
