Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has admitted to feeling frustrated as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury. The Nigeria international sustained the setback during a Premier League clash against Brentford on April 18. He was forced off the pitch just before halftime after pulling up while chasing a loose ball. Samuel Chukwueze replaced him in that encounter, which eventually ended in a 0-0 draw at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Since the incident, Iwobi has been absent from the Cottagers' last three league outings. Fulham head coach Marco Silva recently confirmed that the 29-year-old was unavailable for the recent fixture against Bournemouth. Silva noted that while he hopes to have the playmaker back before the end of the season, a definitive return date remains uncertain. Iwobi has been a key figure for Fulham this term, contributing four goals and three assists across 27 league appearances.
The former Arsenal man shared his experience during a recent appearance on the Alexander Yaa Digg podcast. He explained that he has been taking short walks in his neighborhood to maintain blood flow and oxygen levels in his legs. Iwobi confessed that being unable to move freely has been difficult to handle. He described himself as "fuming" because he cannot be active as usual.
Injuries have been rare for the versatile midfielder throughout his career, making this period particularly challenging. Iwobi highlighted the mental strain of being sidelined while his teammates continue their campaign. He mentioned that he was still walking with a slight limp but remained hopeful after undergoing a medical scan. The results of the scan will determine how much longer he will stay in the treatment room.
Fulham currently sit in 11th place in the Premier League table with 48 points from 36 matches. The team is aiming for a strong finish to the 2025/2026 season despite missing several key players. Alongside Iwobi, defender Ryan Sessegnon is also out of action, while Sander Berge has dealt with illness. The London club will look to navigate their final fixtures without their Nigerian creative spark if his recovery takes longer than expected.
