Forest RB Ola Aina condemns referees after Awoniyi injury

Nottingham Forest and Super Eagles fullback Ola Aina has openly criticized assistant referee Sian Massey-Ellis for not flagging Anthony Elanga offside during a crucial moment that led to striker Taiwo Awoniyi’s severe injury.


The injury occurred in Forest’s 2-2 draw against Leicester City, where Awoniyi collided with the goalpost after trying to reach a cross from Elanga, who was clearly offside.


Despite the obvious offside position, Massey-Ellis waited to raise her flag until the attacking play concluded, following current officiating guidelines.


Awoniyi suffered a ruptured intestine in the incident, necessitating emergency surgery and placement in an induced coma to support his recovery process.
