The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has finalized plans for the Flying Eagles to prepare for the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup with two international friendly matches against host nation Chile and Australia.
Dayo Enebi Achor, Head of International Competitions, confirmed that the two-time FIFA U-20 World Cup silver medallists will face Chile, who are in Group A alongside New Zealand, Japan, and Egypt, on Saturday, 20th September.
Nigeria will then take on Australia, who play in Group D with Italy, Cuba, and Argentina, on Tuesday, 23rd September.
The Flying Eagles reached the quarter-finals in the previous edition hosted by Argentina, losing 1-0 after extra time to Korea Republic in Santiago del Estero.
Nigeria also won the bronze medal when the championship was hosted by the USSR in 1985, highlighting the team’s strong historical pedigree at the U-20 level.
