Highly-rated Nigerian youth international Clinton Jephta has secured a permanent move abroad. The nineteen-year-old winger has completed a full transfer to Finnish Veikkausliiga outfit Inter Turku. He joins the European side from Nigeria Premier Football League club Niger Tornadoes after activating a buy option.
Jephta originally moved to Finland on a brief four-month loan deal back in March. The youngster moved after a brief trial period with the club earlier in the year. He thoroughly impressed the technical crew by racking up three goals and five assists during his short stay. Those impressive performances convinced the club hierarchy to award him a contract until 2028.
The talented winger previously distinguished himself in the Nigerian domestic league with Niger Tornadoes. He recorded eleven goal contributions during an explosive debut season in the top flight. He also spent a brief spell with continental giants Enyimba before heading back to Minna. His rapid development at club level quickly earned him recognition on the international stage.
The forward played a central role for Nigeria at the under-20 Africa Cup of Nations. He featured in every single match of the tournament for the Flying Eagles. The youth team eventually secured a third-place finish by beating Egypt on penalties. Jephta will now hope this permanent European platform can help push him into senior considerations.
He will be aiming to catch the eye of newly extended Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle. The winger wants to build on his youth success to earn a senior call-up. Moving to Europe marks a major milestone for the rising star as he aims higher. This long-term contract ensures he has the stability needed to progress in a competitive environment.
