Nigeria’s U-20 team, the Flying Eagles, will face their Australian counterparts in a friendly match as part of their ongoing preparations for the 24th FIFA U-20 World Cup finals in Chile.
The game is scheduled to take place at the Complejo Deportivo Ruca Mapu in Santiago, with kickoff set for 5:00 PM Chile time (1:00 PM in Nigeria).
Earlier, on Saturday, Chile’s U-20 team held the Flying Eagles to a 1-1 draw in Rancagua. Ahmed Akinyele put Nigeria ahead in the 18th minute before Felipe Faúndez equalized for the hosts in the 36th minute.
In the tournament, Australia will compete in Group D alongside Italy, Cuba, and Argentina, while Nigeria will face Norway, Saudi Arabia, and Colombia in Group F.
Flying Eagles coach Zubair highlighted the benefits of these friendly matches, noting that they provide critical opportunities to assess tactics, fine-tune the squad, and build cohesion ahead of the World Cup finals.
