Flying Antelopes welcome injured Asst. Capt. Ugwuoke back to fold after three years lay off

Posted : 07 March 2024

Five months after undergoing a successful knee surgery, fully funded by the management of Rangers International F.C, midfield maestro Ugochukwu Ugwuoke is back in training with other teammates as the club pushes for a respectable finish in the 2023/2024 football season.

Ugwuoke, a former assistant captain of the ‘Flying Antelopes,’ who sustained the injury in a matchday 8 league encounter between Rangers and Remo Stars in Nnewi in the 2021/2022 season, was full of life at the training session under the watch of coach Fidelis Ilechukwu.

The dribbling wizkid said after the evening session that he was happy to be back, fit as a fiddle to challenge for a place in the squad to defend the badge of the club that stood behind him during his trying times.

“It is indeed a delightful moment for me to rejoin my teammates in training sessions to challenge for a place in matches to defend the badge of the club. I feel so happy to be back. It is not easy passing through all the processes of surgery and rehabilitation to come back to give my best to help the team challenge for honors again. I give God all the glory just as I salute the management of Rangers under Barrister Amobi Ezeaku for standing behind me all through the trying moments of my career,” stated the fleet-footed player.

The captain of the side, Chukwudi Nwaodu, said, “We celebrate the return of one of us, Ugochukwu Ugwuoke, from a career-threatening injury and back to training. It gladdens our hearts that he will come with his wealth of experience and skills to help the squad fight for the league and Federation Cup titles this season.”

Recall that Ugochukwu Ugwuoke went through the surgeon’s knife on October 4, 2023, to correct a nagging knee injury at a health facility in Enugu.
