The Head Coach of the Flamingos, Bankole Olowookere, has finalized a 21-player squad to represent Nigeria at the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup finals in Morocco. The squad features attacking midfielder Shakirat Moshood, goalkeeper Sylvia Echefu, defender Jumai Adebayo, and forward Queen Joseph.
The Flamingos arrived in Morocco’s commercial hub, Casablanca, on Wednesday to begin the final phase of preparations for the tournament, which runs from October 17 to November 8.
Bankole, who guided Nigeria to a bronze medal at the 2022 edition in India, is confident that the Class of 2025 has the potential to surpass the achievements of his 2022 team.
Other notable players included in the squad are goalkeeper Elizabeth Boniface; defenders Azeezat Oduntan and Christiana Sunday; midfielders Muinat Rotimi and Zainab Raji; and forwards Chisom Nwachukwu and Mariam Yahaya.
The Flamingos have been drawn in Group D alongside Canada, France, and Samoa. Nigeria will open their campaign against Canada on Sunday, October 19, followed by a clash with France three days later. Both matches are scheduled for 8 p.m.
Nigerian time at the Football Academy Mohammed VI in Sale (Pitch 2 and Pitch 1, respectively). Their final group-stage match against Samoa will be on October 25, with kickoff set for 5 p.m. at Pitch 3 of the same venue.
