Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, will resume camping on Sunday in Abuja as preparations begin for the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup scheduled to hold in Morocco. Head coach Bankole Olowookere has invited 30 players to the training camp.
Squad Composition
The invited squad features four goalkeepers, nine defenders, nine midfielders, and eight forwards. The list includes standout talents from across the country’s top academies and clubs, with hopes of building a strong team capable of making another deep run on the global stage.
Qualification and Tournament Details
The Flamingos, bronze medalists at the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, booked their spot in Morocco by defeating South Africa and Algeria in the qualifying rounds. This edition of the tournament will be the first with an expanded 24-team format and the first of five consecutive finals to be hosted by Morocco.
Matches will be played between 17 October and 8 November 2025 across four venues: Prince Héritier Moulay el-Hassan Sports Complex, Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex, Al Barid Stadium, and Mohamed VI Football Academy.
Players Expected in Camp
The players are due to report to camp in Abuja on Sunday, 7 September, marking the start of intensive preparations. Among the selected names are goalkeeper Elizabeth Boniface (Abia Angels), defender Hannah Ibrahim (Remo Stars Ladies), midfielder Shakirat Moshood (Bayelsa Queens), and forward Kaosara Olanrewaju (Aisha Yusuf Academy, Lagos).
With a mix of experienced youth internationals and fresh prospects, the camp is expected to be highly competitive as Nigeria sets sights on another podium finish.
