Flamingos Beat Togo 4-0 to Win 2026 WAFU B U17 Girls Cup

Nigeria’s Flamingos have won the 2026 WAFU B U17 Girls Cup after defeating Togo 4-0 in the final. The victory completed a perfect tournament for Nigeria, who won all five of their matches on their way to the regional title.

Chidera Harmony was the standout performer in the final, scoring twice from the penalty spot. She opened the scoring in the 15th minute before converting another penalty in the 35th minute to give Nigeria a 2-0 lead at half-time.

The Flamingos maintained control after the interval and continued to create pressure against the Togolese defence. Oluebube Umejiaku extended Nigeria’s advantage in the 67th minute to move the score to 3-0.

Oluwakemi Adegbuyi completed the scoring in the 90th minute. Her late goal confirmed a 4-0 victory and secured the WAFU B U17 Girls crown for the Nigerian side.

The result capped an unbeaten campaign in which the Flamingos recorded five victories from five matches. Their consistent performances throughout the competition also highlighted Nigeria’s strength in the region’s youth women’s game.

Harmony’s two penalties proved decisive in the final as Nigeria established a comfortable advantage before Umejiaku and Adegbuyi added further goals. Togo were unable to find a response as the Flamingos maintained their defensive control and saw out the match.

The regional championship adds another achievement to Nigeria’s record in women’s youth football. The Flamingos have regularly represented the country in major age-grade competitions, making the WAFU B title another important step in the development of the team.

The triumph also gives the players and coaching staff valuable competitive experience as they continue their progression toward future continental and international assignments. Nigeria will now look to build on the successful campaign as the young players continue their development.
