The Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership side Osun Babes have been thrown into uncertainty following the resignation of their Technical Adviser, Bankole Olowookere, who stepped down over unresolved financial obligations.
Olowookere, who assumed charge of the team in November 2025, confirmed that the persistent failure by the club’s management to meet its financial commitments compelled him to walk away from the role.
According to the coach, several promises were made by the management to settle outstanding salaries and bonuses owed to players and members of the coaching crew. However, those assurances were repeatedly unmet despite continuous engagements and appeals.
His departure comes despite a relatively productive spell with the club, where he attempted to stabilise the team amid difficult conditions.
While announcing his resignation, Olowookere expressed appreciation for the opportunity to work with Osun Babes and wished the club success as they continue their campaign to maintain their status in the NWFL Premiership.
Before his stint with Osun Babes, Olowookere had built a growing reputation in Nigerian women’s football during his time with Naija Ratels. Under his leadership, the Abuja-based side enjoyed a remarkable debut campaign in the top flight, qualifying for the NWFL Premiership Super Six playoffs.
He further guided the club to the final of the 2024 NFF Federation Cup (Women’s), where they narrowly lost 1–0 to Rivers Angels in the title match played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.
