FIFA Approves Normalisation Committee to Oversee NFF Operations Until May 2027

World football governing body FIFA has approved the establishment of a normalisation committee to run the daily affairs of the Nigeria Football Federation. The decision comes as part of broader efforts to resolve ongoing administrative issues and restore governance stability to Nigerian football.

 

The Bureau of the FIFA Council confirmed the development through an official correspondence addressed to acting NFF Secretary General Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme. FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström stated in the letter that the interim panel will manage the federation until fresh executive committee elections take place. Members of the committee will be selected jointly by FIFA and the Confederation of African Football in due course.

 

The mandate of the normalisation committee will run until all designated tasks are fully completed. FIFA established a strict deadline, stating the committee must wrap up its duties no later than May 31, 2027. Crucially, anyone selected to serve on the normalisation committee will be ineligible to run in the upcoming NFF elections.

 

Pending the formal appointment of the interim members, FIFA directed the current NFF secretariat to handle routine administration. The decision provides administrative continuity as Nigerian football enters a transitional phase.
