FG Presents Houses and $100,000 Rewards to Super Falcons

The Federal Government has officially fulfilled its reward package for the Super Falcons following their triumph at the 2025 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, presenting every player with a three-bedroom house and confirming the payment of $100,000 to each squad member.

The presentation ceremony was held in Rabat, Morocco, shortly before Nigeria's opening Group C fixture at the 2026 WAFCON. Officials from the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) represented the Federal Government during the event.

NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko and NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi handed over the housing allocation documents on behalf of the government. According to the NFF, the cash rewards had already been transferred into the individual bank accounts of the players before the ceremony.

Each player received a three-bedroom apartment under the Federal Government's Renewed Hope Housing Estate initiative. Members of the Super Falcons' technical crew also benefited from the government's reward package.

President Bola Tinubu announced the incentives after Nigeria defeated hosts Morocco to win the 2025 Women's Africa Cup of Nations and secure a record-extending 10th continental title. Alongside the financial rewards and housing allocation, members of the victorious squad were also conferred with national honours in recognition of their achievement.

While the cash payments were processed after the necessary administrative procedures were completed, the presentation of the housing allocations was delayed to allow the players to receive the documents together during an international assignment.

Speaking during the ceremony, Shehu Dikko explained that the decision to present the rewards in Morocco was intended to inspire the players as they began the defence of their African title.

"We decided to present the keys while the players were together in Morocco. Their $100,000 has already been paid into their various bank accounts, and we believe this gesture will further boost their morale as they begin the defence of their WAFCON title," Dikko said.

The Super Falcons entered the 2026 tournament as defending champions and Africa's most successful women's national team, having won the competition a record 10 times. They are aiming to extend that record by capturing an unprecedented 11th WAFCON title.

Nigeria will face Zambia and Egypt in their remaining Group C fixtures as they continue their quest for another continental crown.

The 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, which runs from July 26 to August 16 in Morocco, also serves as Africa's qualification tournament for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil. The four semi-finalists will qualify automatically for the global tournament, while one additional team will have an opportunity to reach the World Cup through the intercontinental play-offs.
