Festus Allen Returns to Lead Revamped ABS Ilorin FC Technical Crew

ABS Ilorin FC has confirmed the return of experienced coach Festus Allen to spearhead a newly restructured technical team as the club intensifies preparations for the 2026/2027 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.

The appointment followed a strategic planning meeting involving the club's management and its partners, Sports Flames Communication, at the Henry George Hotel in Ilorin, where key decisions were taken to strengthen the team's technical and administrative structure.

Allen will work alongside newly promoted Chief Coach Joel Ogundeji, while Aremu Solihu, popularly known as Champion, has been appointed First Assistant Coach. Abdulrahman Bashir retains his role as Team Trainee.

As part of the shake-up, Coaches Adeyinka Salaudeen and Tunde have left their positions following the reorganisation.

The club described Allen's return as a significant step in its quest to build a competitive side capable of challenging for honours in the coming campaign. Officials believe his vast coaching experience, familiarity with the club's culture, and proven leadership credentials make him the right man to lead the next phase of the team's development.

Allen is expected to be officially unveiled at a ceremony in Lagos, with details of the event to be announced soon.

The veteran tactician began his coaching career with ABS Ilorin FC before establishing himself as one of Nigeria's most experienced football managers. During his career, he has managed several notable clubs, including Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Bayelsa United, Ranchers Bees, Sharks FC, MFM FC, and Gateway FC.

The meeting also featured a celebration for the club's Director of Football, Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka, who recently marked his 50/50 birthday anniversary at Bovina Hotels in Ilorin.

Club officials praised Chukwuemeka for his dedication to the growth of football, his invaluable contributions to ABS Ilorin FC, and his continued commitment to the development of grassroots and elite football in Kwara State and across Nigeria.

With the new technical team now in place, ABS Ilorin FC believes the return of Festus Allen marks the start of a renewed drive to restore the club's status as one of the leading contenders in the Nigeria National League. The club will now look to build momentum under Allen's leadership as preparations continue for the new campaign, with hopes of translating the restructuring into improved performances and promotion ambitions.
