Ferran Torres granted permission to miss Barcelona training amid PSG move

Ferran Torres has been given permission to stay away from Barcelona training as negotiations over a potential move to Paris Saint-Germain enter their final stages. The 26-year-old was expected to return to the Catalan club's training ground on Wednesday, but will instead remain away while the transfer is being discussed.

The proposed transfer could be worth more than £40 million, although the two clubs are still working on the final details. Barcelona have already rejected an initial offer of around €40 million from PSG, with further negotiations expected before an agreement can be reached.

Torres has only one year remaining on his Barcelona contract, making his future an increasingly important issue for the club. The Spanish forward has previously acknowledged that his future remains uncertain, despite continuing to be part of the squad.

A move to Paris would reunite Torres with Luis Enrique, the former Barcelona player and manager who now leads PSG. The French champions have enjoyed considerable success under the Spaniard and are looking to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season.

Torres joined Barcelona in 2022 after spending two seasons with Manchester City. Since moving to Camp Nou, he has established himself as a regular attacking option and has continued to feature prominently for Spain.

His international reputation has also grown considerably. Torres was one of Spain's standout players during their 2026 World Cup triumph, scoring the extra-time winner against Argentina in the final to help his country secure their second World Cup title.

PSG's interest comes as they assess their attacking options for the new campaign. The French side could potentially lose Bradley Barcola, who has attracted interest from Liverpool, increasing the need for additional depth in the forward positions.

With Torres now permitted to remain away from Barcelona's training base, the latest development suggests that negotiations with PSG are progressing. However, a final agreement between the clubs is still required before the Spain international can complete his move to Paris.
