Fenerbahce have officially announced the signing of French midfielder N’Golo Kante from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad. The move had appeared to collapse on Tuesday, when Fenerbahce issued a statement blaming Al-Ittihad for failing to complete the necessary transfer paperwork. The deal also involved Morocco striker Youssef En-Nesyri moving in the opposite direction.
However, the Turkish club confirmed on Wednesday that the administrative issues had been resolved, allowing Kante, 34, to join Fenerbahce after two and a half years in Saudi Arabia. The former Chelsea star brings a wealth of experience, having won the Champions League, Premier League, Europa League, and FA Cup with the London club.
Kante began his Chelsea career in 2016 after a standout season with Leicester City, where he helped the Foxes secure a historic Premier League title. His arrival in Istanbul is expected to strengthen Fenerbahce’s midfield significantly.
En-Nesyri, 28, will move to Al-Ittihad as part of the deal and serves as a replacement for former Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, who recently joined Saudi rivals Al-Hilal. The swap highlights Fenerbahce’s ambition to bolster their squad while navigating a high-profile transfer window.
