Fenerbahce Intensify Pursuit of Fulham Defender Calvin Bassey Ahead of Summer Window

Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce have stepped up their efforts to secure the signature of Nigeria international Calvin Bassey. The Istanbul giants have made the versatile Fulham defender their number one priority for the upcoming summer transfer window. This aggressive push follows another challenging season for the club; they watched fierce local rivals Galatasaray dominate the Super Lig once again.

Fenerbahce presidential candidate Aziz Yildirim is prepared to lead the transfer negotiations personally. Reports indicate that the club official is scheduled to travel to London for direct talks with Fulham executives. Yildirim also plans to hold clear discussions with the representative of the twenty-six-year-old left-sided center-back during his visit to the United Kingdom.

Bassey has established himself as a reliable asset in the English Premier League since arriving at Craven Cottage. The Nigerian joined the London side from Dutch team Ajax in the summer of 2023 for a fee of 22.5 million Euros. His impressive blend of physical power, exceptional recovery pace, and tactical awareness has earned substantial praise across England.

The former Rangers star remains under contract with the English top-flight club until June 2027. Fulham also hold an option to extend his stay by an additional year; this clause gives the English team strong leverage in pricing. Media outlets suggest that the London club value their star defender at around 28 million Euros.

Fenerbahce remain confident they can match the financial expectations of both the club and the player. The Turkish side could tempt the center-back by offering a significantly higher salary than his current Premier League package. Bassey must now weigh his choices carefully as the yellow-and-blues prepare an official bid to lure him away from London.
