Femi Azeez Completes Brighton Move in £15m Deadline-Day Deal

Super Eagles winger Femi Azeez has completed his deadline-day move from Millwall to Brighton & Hove Albion, securing a major step up to the Premier League. The deal is worth an initial £12.5 million and could rise beyond £15 million through performance-related add-ons.

The 25-year-old had been one of the most sought-after players outside the Premier League during the final days of the transfer window. Brighton had several bids rejected by Millwall before the clubs reached an agreement on deadline day.

Azeez is expected to sign a four-year contract with Brighton, with the Seagulls holding an option to extend his stay for another season. His move is also set to become a record sale for Millwall.

The Nigerian enjoyed an outstanding 2025/26 campaign with Millwall. He scored 11 goals and provided eight assists in 37 appearances, earning selection in the PFA Championship Team of the Year.

His performances also earned him his first senior Nigeria call-up under Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle. Azeez made an immediate impact during the Unity Cup, scoring twice against Zimbabwe before registering an assist against Jamaica in the final as Nigeria retained the trophy.

Brighton believe Azeez can add greater attacking depth to their squad as they prepare for another Premier League campaign. His pace, direct running and ability to contribute goals and assists were key factors behind the club's decision to pursue the winger.

The move also represents a significant financial gain for Millwall. The Lions signed Azeez from Reading for around £1 million in August 2024, meaning the eventual transfer fee could deliver a substantial profit on their investment.

Azeez now faces the challenge of establishing himself in England's top division. His arrival gives Nigeria another player competing at Premier League level and could strengthen his case for a regular role with the Super Eagles ahead of their upcoming international assignments.
