Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Fabian Hürzeler has revealed the qualities that impressed him about Super Eagles winger Femi Azeez following the Nigerian's move to the Premier League club.

Azeez joined Brighton from Millwall on a four-year contract after an outstanding 2025/26 Championship campaign. Brighton confirmed that the 25-year-old was one of the division's most exciting attacking players and had earned places in both the PFA and EFL Championship Teams of the Season.

The winger finished last season with 11 goals and eight assists for Millwall. He helped the Lions reach the Championship play-offs before their campaign ended against eventual winners Hull City.

Hürzeler highlighted Azeez's versatility and ability to influence matches in the final third. The Brighton boss particularly likes the Nigerian's ability to finish with either foot and make good decisions when attacking dangerous areas.

Azeez is also valued for his work without the ball. His ability to press, track back and contribute during transitions was an important part of his development at Millwall.

His arrival at Brighton came after a difficult start to the new campaign. Azeez suffered an injury during Millwall's opening Championship match against Bristol City and was unavailable for Brighton's Premier League fixture against Leeds United.

Hürzeler confirmed before the Leeds game that the Nigerian was carrying a slight injury. The coach said Brighton would wait before assessing whether Azeez could return for the club's next fixture.

Brighton completed the signing shortly after the transfer deadline. The club described Azeez as a key addition after his impressive season at Millwall, while sporting director Mike Cave praised his attacking ability and development through the English football system.

Azeez's rise to the Premier League has been particularly notable because he previously spent time in non-league football after leaving Watford's academy. He later played for Reading and Millwall before earning his first senior Nigeria call-up.

The winger has already made an impact for the Super Eagles. He scored both goals in Nigeria's 2-0 win over Zimbabwe on his international debut in June before providing an assist in the following 3-0 victory over Jamaica.

Brighton are now hoping his recovery progresses quickly as Hürzeler looks to integrate several new additions into his squad. The club drew 1-1 with Leeds in their most recent Premier League outing, leaving Azeez still waiting for his first competitive appearance for the Seagulls.

With his finishing ability, pace, physical strength and willingness to work defensively, Azeez has several qualities that could help him compete for a regular role at Brighton. His return from injury will therefore be closely watched by the club and Super Eagles supporters.
