FCT FA League: Kicker FC Hold Nile University to Goalless Draw

Posted : 04 July 2025

Kicker Football Club of Abuja played out a 0–0 draw with Nile University FC on Thursday in their second Group A match of the ongoing FCT FA League Division II, held in Abuja.

The league is taking place across three centres within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In the match played at the Old Parade Ground Football Pitch, Area 10, both teams missed several scoring opportunities, especially in the first half, resulting in a goalless stalemate.

Speaking after the match, Kicker FC Sporting Director, Dare Adesomo, said his team did not perform badly despite the draw.

“Our team dominated possession and controlled the game, but the pitch at Area 10 hindered the players’ ability to showcase their skills.

In spite of the challenges, we managed to secure a draw,” he said.

On his part, Nile University FC coach, Timi Ogunjimi, praised his team’s performance.

“The boys were proactive and created good chances, but we lacked clinical finishing upfront.

I will work on our attackers' finishing in the next game,” he added.

He expressed optimism about the young team's progress, noting that consistent match experience would improve their performance.

Kicker FC began their campaign with a 2–2 draw against Alpha FC, while Nile University FC defeated Fine Trust Football Academy 2–1 in their opening fixture.

Group A also includes Alpha FC, Fine Trust FA, ACE Football Club, and Chikason FC.

Kicker FC will face Chikason FC at 9 a.m. on July 7 at the Area 3 Football Pitch, while Nile University FC will play Alpha FC at 11 a.m. at the same venue.

In other results:

  • Alpha FC drew 1–1 with ACE Football Club
  • Fine Trust FA thrashed Uziah Sports 4–1
  • At the Bwari centre:
    • Burna Boys FA beat Kehnemi FC 4–1
    • Arewa FC edged Diamond FC 3–2
    • Gozie FA lost to Wuse FC 2–3
    • TTC FC drew Lazio FCA 1–1

A total of 30 teams are participating in the 2025 edition of the competition, which began on July 1 across all three centres in Abuja.
