FC Nzidane Come From Behind to Beat FC Diarra 3-2

FC Nzidane produced an impressive comeback to defeat FC Diarra 3-2 in the West Africa Champions Cup on Monday, August 17, 2026, at the Stade M’Ballou Mady Diakité in Kankan. The victory gave the Mauritanian side its first three points of the tournament after a difficult opening.

FC Nzidane made an excellent start and quickly put FC Diarra under pressure. The Mauritanian side opened the scoring in the 17th minute through Babacar Diop before Mamadi Oularé doubled the advantage just one minute later. Within the space of two minutes, FC Nzidane had established a commanding 2-0 lead.

FC Diarra, however, responded strongly and refused to allow the early deficit to determine the outcome. The Malian side began to find more space in attack and pulled one goal back through Ibrahima Traoré in the 37th minute.

Just one minute later, Seydou Sidibé completed the rapid comeback by scoring again for FC Diarra. The two goals in quick succession transformed the match, with the sides heading into halftime level at 2-2.

The second half continued in the same competitive fashion, with both teams searching for the decisive goal. FC Nzidane eventually regained the lead in the 50th minute when Ousmane Traoré scored to make it 3-2.

FC Diarra pushed for another equalizer but could not find a way past the Mauritanian defense. FC Nzidane held on through the closing stages to secure a valuable victory in a match that had seen the lead change dramatically.

The result marked FC Nzidane's first win of the competition. FC Diarra, meanwhile, suffered their first defeat after previously earning a draw against Hafia FC.

The five-goal thriller was part of an action-packed fourth matchday that also saw Horoya AC defeat defending champions Djoliba AC 2-1. The two matches produced eight goals in total, making the day one of the most productive rounds of the tournament.

The WACC is being staged in Kankan as a preparation tournament for clubs from across the sub-region ahead of their respective CAF campaigns.
