Falconets Cruise Past Benin to Maintain Perfect Start at WAFU-B U-20 Girls Cup

Posted : 09 November 2025

Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national team, the Falconets, continued their fine form at the ongoing WAFU-B U-20 Girls Cup with a dominant 3–0 victory over hosts Benin Republic on Sunday at the Stade Omnisports d’Adjohoun.

Barely 24 hours after defeating defending champions Ghana 3–1 in their opening match, the Falconets once again displayed class, composure, and attacking efficiency to secure another emphatic win and tighten their grip at the top of the table.

The Nigerian girls wasted no time asserting dominance, controlling possession and dictating the tempo throughout the encounter.

Kareem Ramotalahi opened the scoring in the 14th minute, finishing off a slick team move to give Nigeria an early lead. She doubled her tally in the 58th minute, racing down the right flank before cutting inside to unleash a low drive past the Beninese goalkeeper for 2–0.

Despite the home support cheering Benin on, the Falconets remained composed, managing the game intelligently and denying the hosts any meaningful opportunity to respond.

Precious Chiemerie sealed the win in added time (90+3’) with a clinical strike from close range after Benin failed to clear a corner, capping off another commanding performance for Nigeria.

The result puts the Falconets firmly on top with six points from two matches, leaving them in a strong position as the tournament heads into its final rounds.

Nigeria will next face Ghana on Monday, November 11, at 10 a.m., before rounding off the group phase against Benin Republic on November 12.

The 2025 WAFU Zone B U-20 Girls’ Cup, which runs from November 7 to 12, features just three participating nations — Nigeria, Ghana, and hosts Benin Republic — competing in a round-robin format, with each team facing the others twice to determine the eventual champion.

The competition serves as an important developmental platform for discovering new talents and preparing national squads for future CAF and FIFA youth tournaments.
