Ex-Montpellier and Portsmouth player targets Paul Onuachu's goal tally

Posted : 14 November 2023
Former Super Eagles winger John Utaka has commended Paul Onuachu for his stellar performance in the Turkish Super Lig, expressing optimism that Onuachu can achieve a goal tally of 25 for Trabzonspor. Utaka, a former player for Montpellier and Portsmouth, recognizes Onuachu's scoring versatility and believes he will pose a significant challenge for opposing defenders.

Onuachu joined Trabzonspor during the summer after a challenging period at Southampton, and his impact has been remarkable. Scoring six goals in eight games, including a stunning strike in the 85th minute of a 2-0 win over Konyaspor, Onuachu has garnered attention and praise across social media platforms.

John Utaka, who himself was a striker, appreciates Onuachu's goal-scoring prowess, describing him as a "prolific goalscorer and a very good center-forward." Utaka watched Onuachu's matches and highlights, expressing confidence in Onuachu's potential to reach 25 goals this season.

Despite Onuachu's previous struggles at Southampton, Utaka remains convinced that his compatriot is a top-level striker. Examining Onuachu's goal-scoring records at FC Midtjylland and Genk, Utaka notes that Onuachu has consistently found the net for the clubs he has played for.

Utaka concludes by expressing happiness for Onuachu's success at Trabzonspor and wishes him well during the international break, where Onuachu was not called up for Nigeria's World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Lesotho.
