Ex-Internationals Cup: N16m Welfare Package, Prizes Await 32 Legends in Lagos

The Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, will come alive on Sunday, August 23, as the Bet9ja Foundation Ex-Internationals Cup reaches its climax with a package of prizes and welfare support worth millions of naira for the participating football legends.

The grand finale will bring together former Nigerian internationals in a celebration of football, friendship and nostalgia, with organisers promising a memorable closing ceremony in honour of players who contributed to the development of the country's game.

The day's action will begin with the third-place encounter at noon, as FC Okpara face FC Alloy in a battle for the bronze medal.

The two sides, having missed out on the final, will be determined to end their campaigns on a high by securing third place and the accompanying financial reward.

The spotlight will shift to the grand finale at 3 p.m., when FC Babington confront FC Enegwea for the championship.

Both finalists have impressed throughout the tournament with entertaining performances and will now seek to crown their campaigns with the coveted title.

The champions will pocket N2.5 million, while the runners-up will receive N1 million. The third-placed team will earn N500,000, with the fourth-placed side taking home N250,000.

Beyond the competitive rewards, the organisers have introduced a special welfare package designed to directly appreciate the contributions of the former internationals.

As part of the initiative, each ex-international representing the 32 participating teams will receive N500,000 during halftime of the final.

The gesture by Bet9ja is aimed at celebrating and supporting the football legends, many of whom played important roles in shaping Nigerian football during their playing careers.

With the final bringing together some of the country's former stars, Sunday’s event promises more than a contest for silverware, as the Ex-Internationals Cup seeks to combine competitive football with recognition, welfare and celebration of Nigeria's football heritage.
