Former Besiktas midfielder Sinan Engin has expressed admiration for Victor Osimhen’s remarkable performances at Galatasaray this season. Engin highlighted the Nigerian forward's crucial role in the team while criticizing the impact of other signings, suggesting that they haven't contributed as much to Galatasaray's success.
Osimhen, who made the switch from Napoli to Galatasaray last summer, has been a central figure in the team's attack. His consistent displays across various competitions have been pivotal for the club.
The 26-year-old forward has been involved in 28 goals in 29 matches, scoring 23 goals and providing five assists. His performances have been integral to Galatasaray’s pursuit of defending their Turkish Super Lig title.
Engin, speaking about the team's season, emphasized that Osimhen has been the main driving force behind their success. He remarked that the striker's contributions have been far more significant than those of other players brought in during the same transfer windows.
"We always say the same things, but Victor Osimhen carries Galatasaray," Engin noted, reflecting on the forward's pivotal role.
The former Besiktas player also criticized the other signings, asserting that they have not been as influential as Osimhen. "Not all of the transfers Galatasaray made this season contribute as much as Osimhen. All of the other transfers contribute at a rate of 50%-60%."
Despite several high-profile signings, including Gabriel Sara and Álvaro Morata, none have had the same level of impact as Osimhen. His excellent form has reportedly attracted interest from top European clubs, with many keeping an eye on him ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
As Osimhen continues to shine, Nigeria’s national team coach Eric Chelle is hopeful that the forward’s form will continue. With the Super Eagles facing crucial World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, Osimhen’s contributions will be essential for Nigeria’s efforts to secure a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
