Doma United will play their next three home matches without supporters after the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) sanctioned the club for security breaches and misconduct during their Match Day 9 encounter against Kun Khalifat FC.
The league also imposed fines totalling ₦5.25 million on the Gombe-based side following incidents during and after the match played on Saturday, Oct. 17.
In its disciplinary notice, the NPFL accused Doma United of failing to provide adequate security and allowing unauthorised persons into restricted areas during the encounter.
The club was also held responsible for supporters’ hostile conduct towards match officials, as well as gross misconduct involving an official of the visiting team.
The league further cited an incident after the match in which Kun Khalifat head coach Obinna Uzoho sustained an injury that required medical attention.
Doma United were fined ₦3 million for repeated security failures, ₦1 million for supporters’ hostility towards match officials, and another ₦1 million for gross misconduct towards an away-team official.
The club must also pay ₦250,000 to cover Uzoho’s medical expenses.
Beyond the financial sanctions, the NPFL recommended the demotion of the match commissioner to a lower league over alleged dereliction of duty, inadequate supervision, and failure to provide sufficient reports on the incidents.
The disciplinary action underscores the league’s determination to enforce its rules on stadium security, crowd control, and the conduct of club officials and supporters.
Doma United, nicknamed the Savannah Tigers, have been directed to improve matchday security and educate their supporters on acceptable conduct to prevent further violations.
The club has 48 hours from the date of notification to appeal the sanctions.
The penalties leave Doma United facing a significant financial burden and three home fixtures without the backing of their supporters as the 2026/2027 NPFL season progresses.
