The management of Enyimba International FC has denied reports suggesting that it reduced players’ salaries by 50% following the team’s poor performance in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
In a statement, the club said: “The attention of Enyimba Football Club has been drawn to a misleading report alleging that the club slashed players’ salaries by 50% following the home defeat to Wikki Tourist FC. Enyimba FC wishes to categorically state that at no time did the management approve, initiate, or implement any salary reduction.”
The club emphasized that it remains fully committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism in its relationships with players and staff. “This report is purely a figment of the writer’s imagination and should be disregarded by the public,” the statement added.
Enyimba FC also expressed concern that the false information originated from a supposedly reputable media organization or personnel, without verifying the claims with the club’s official platforms or management team. The club reiterated that all official decisions and updates are communicated exclusively through its verified channels.
While maintaining its longstanding mutual respect with the media, Enyimba FC said it remains focused on returning to winning ways. “We will continue to work closely with media partners to highlight our activities and contribute to the advancement of the NPFL and football development in Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
