Nine-time league champions, Enyimba International FC, officially resumed pre-season training on June 20, 2025, at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba with high hopes of chasing their long-awaited La Décima—a record 10th league title.
The early preparations are part of the club’s focused effort to rebound from a disappointing 6th-place finish last season and make a stronger mark both domestically and continentally.
In a surprising move, the People’s Elephant announced the release of 22 players, including big names such as Brown Ideye, Junior Lokosa, Fatai Abdullahi, Elijah Akanni, and goalkeeper Ozoemena Ani. Additionally, three players were sent out on loan.
Despite the massive clear-out, head coach Stanley Eguma has set his sights on winning the NPFL title or, at the very least, securing a continental spot.
Enyimba’s overhaul goes beyond just the playing squad; the club is also strengthening its infrastructure and sharpening its long-term ambitions. These comprehensive measures underline the team’s intent to reclaim its place at the top of Nigerian and African football.
With a renewed roster and ambitious plans, Enyimba’s chances of success in the upcoming season are rated at 7/10.
