Enyimba And Rivers United Handed Tough Draws In President Federation Cup Round Of 16

The Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed the Round of 16 fixtures for the 2026 President Federation Cup. Several thrilling knockout matches are now set to take center stage across the country. Traditional heavyweights and rising underdogs will battle fiercely for a prized spot in the quarter-finals.

Former champions Enyimba FC face a highly anticipated showdown against top-flight rivals Ikorodu City. The People's Elephants advanced to this stage after a narrow 1-0 victory over Gombe United. Youngster Nelson Sule scored the decisive goal in that match; the victory ensured Enyimba maintained their perfect defensive record in the tournament this year.

Rivers United have also been handed a very demanding path in the prestigious knockout competition. They will square off against Nasarawa United in another heavyweight battle. Rivers United earned their spot in the last 16 after a dramatic 3-2 victory over reigning league champions Rangers International.

Meanwhile, former cup holders Bendel Insurance will lock horns with El-Kanemi Warriors. The Benin Arsenals had to fight back from a goal down to defeat Crown FC 3-1 in the previous round. El-Kanemi Warriors advanced after overcoming Akwa United in a tense penalty shootout.

The tournament has already witnessed major upsets, including the shocking elimination of defending champions Kwara United by Sokoto United. Sokoto United will now face Adamawa United in their bid to continue their dream run. Elsewhere, Plateau United are scheduled to clash with lower-league team FC Basira.

Kada Warriors will play against Wikki Tourists after eliminating Shooting Stars on penalties. Bida Lions will confront Flight FC following their stunning 2-0 victory over Warri Wolves. Finally, the youth team of Sunshine Stars will test their mettle against a formidable Barau FC side.
