Emmanuel Jesam, a hero as Doma United picks first win in 10 matches

Emmanuel Jesam was the hero of the day as Doma United FC secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory away at the Goodswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Match Day 28 of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).


It was a good day for the Savannah Tigers, who had endured a 10-match winless streak in the league season before the match, as well as a penultimate loss to fellow local rival Gombe United FC in the Federation Cup final over the weekend.


With a three-match ultimatum in mind, Doma United FC put up a spirited display away from home, knowing that a loss would have put the club in jeopardy.


It was Jesam who scored the only goal of the day in the 7th minute, while Doma United FC fought hard to maintain their lead.


Doma United could have doubled their lead in the 73rd minute as Charles Terwar wriggled through the Akwa defense and found himself in a brilliant position on the right, but his cut-back couldn't connect well with Jesam.


The match, however, ended 1-0 in favor of the visitors.
