Emiloju FC to Shine on Global Stage at LaLiga EA Next Gen Draft

Posted : 07 January 2026

Lagos-based Emiloju FC has been confirmed as one of the participating teams in the upcoming LaLiga EA Next Gen Draft, set to run from January 30 to February 1 at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Lagos. The tournament, a partnership between LaLiga, EA Sports, the Nationwide League One (NLO), and the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA), promises to be a landmark event for youth football in Nigeria.

The grassroots initiative brings together some of the country’s most respected football academies to compete for the chance to participate in an exclusive international program. Male teams joining Emiloju FC include IKorodu City Football Academy, Greenlock Academy, Ebedei Sports College, FirstBank Football Academy, 36 Lions FC, Seamoriow Academy, MKA Football Academy, City FC, Mees Palace Academy, Shola FC, and Athletic SC.

Commenting on the opportunity, Emiloju FC Chairman Alhaji Musiliu Jimoh Alao expressed pride in the club’s achievement. “Being selected for the LaLiga EA Next Gen Draft is a proud moment for Emiloju FC and our entire football family. It reflects the progress of our grassroots development program,” he said. “Our players have worked tirelessly, and this platform allows them to showcase their talent on a global stage. We believe this exposure will inspire our boys and further promote football development in our community.”

Launched in 2024, the LaLiga EA Next Gen Draft is an international project aimed at identifying, educating, and training promising young footballers worldwide. By combining EA Sports’ digital innovation with LaLiga’s elite football expertise, the initiative provides youth players with opportunities to improve their skills, gain international exposure, and embrace the values of teamwork and community engagement through football.

Players selected from the Lagos draft will have the unique opportunity to travel to Spain for a 10-day training and cultural immersion program, fully sponsored by the initiative. Participants will train in professional environments, engage with LaLiga coaching staff, and experience European football culture firsthand, providing invaluable development for their budding careers.

As the event approaches, Emiloju FC is preparing rigorously, determined to make a lasting impression and seize the chance to represent their community on a global stage. With the spotlight on Lagos, the tournament is poised to be one of the most exciting youth football events of the year.
