El Kanemi Warriors Clinch 2026 President Federation Cup, Secure CAF Confederation Cup Spot

El Kanemi Warriors were crowned champions of the 2026 President Federation Cup after defeating Ikorodu City FC 1-0 in a closely contested final, securing one of the biggest honours in Nigerian domestic football.

The Maiduguri-based side displayed resilience, tactical discipline and defensive solidity throughout the encounter, making the most of their advantage to overcome a determined Ikorodu City side and claim the prestigious trophy.

The victory marks a significant achievement for the Desert Warriors, who produced a composed performance under pressure to emerge victorious in a fiercely contested final.

Winning the President Federation Cup also guarantees El Kanemi Warriors a place in the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup, where they will represent Nigeria in Africa's second-tier club competition.

For Ikorodu City, the defeat brought an impressive cup run to an end after the Lagos-based club reached the final for the first time. However, they were unable to find a way past El Kanemi Warriors' resolute defence.

The triumph is expected to provide a major boost for El Kanemi Warriors ahead of their continental campaign while rewarding the commitment of the players, coaching staff, management and supporters whose collective efforts culminated in lifting Nigeria's oldest domestic football trophy.
