El-Kanemi Warriors Step Up Preparations with NFF Super Six Invitation

El-Kanemi Warriors FC will use the NFF Super Six tournament in Jos, Plateau State, as part of their preparations for a return to continental football.

The Pride of Northern Nigeria are among six clubs selected for the competition, organised by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to provide Nigeria’s representatives in CAF competitions with competitive preparation ahead of their continental campaigns.

The tournament will also offer El-Kanemi an opportunity to test the strength of a revamped squad after the club brought in several experienced players to bolster its ranks.

The Maiduguri-based side last featured in continental competition in 2024 after winning the President Federation Cup against Abia Warriors. The Babagana Umara Zulum Boys are now intensifying preparations under newly recruited CAF A Licence coach King Emmanuel.

Assistant Coach Ishaq Hussain Goni said the team’s preparations had gathered momentum, expressing confidence in the quality of players assembled by the club.

“Alhamdulillah, some people doubted that we could make it this early, but by the will of Allah, we now have better and fully prepared players who are ready to wear the yellow and green jersey. We have intensified our training, and we are going to surprise the world,” he said.

Goni also disclosed that the club would soon unveil its new signings while setting ambitious targets for both its continental and domestic campaigns.

“Soon, we will unveil our new players and, In Sha Allah, you will all smile. Our target is to go far in the continental competition. When the NNL campaign kicks off, our target is to secure one of the promotion tickets to the Premier League.”

El-Kanemi Warriors will face Enugu Rangers, Rivers United, Shooting Stars, Plateau United and hosts Mighty Jets in the Super Six tournament.

All matches are scheduled to take place at the New Jos Stadium, with the competition expected to provide the participating clubs with a strong test of their readiness ahead of the new season.

For El-Kanemi Warriors, the Jos assignment represents an important step in their quest to return strongly to the continental stage while also positioning themselves for promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League.
