El-Kanemi Warriors Sharpen Attacking Edge With 9-0 Friendly Demolition

Posted : 10 October 2026

El-Kanemi Warriors FC demonstrated their attacking strength ahead of their continental assignment, thrashing CP Strikers FC 9–0 in a friendly at the El-Kanemi Warriors Sports Complex.

The commanding victory offered coach King Emmanuel an opportunity to assess his squad’s attacking options and evaluate newly invited home-based players ahead of the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round against Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca.

The Warriors, popularly known as the Zulum Boys, started aggressively, scoring twice within the opening seven minutes to establish early dominance.

Despite several defensive interventions by CP Strikers defender Ramos, the hosts maintained their attacking pressure and added two more goals in the 34th and 41st minutes to take a comfortable 4–0 lead into halftime.

Emmanuel introduced several tactical changes after the restart, handing opportunities to newly invited home-based players. Abdulmumin Ali, however, missed the encounter through injury.

The substitutions injected fresh energy into the Warriors’ attack, with right-back Lawan Sheikh emerging as a key contributor by providing two assists.

Isaac Jonathan converted both chances before extending his impressive performance with two additional goals to complete a four-goal haul.

Henry Andrew Koyi also made an immediate impression, finding the net to help seal the emphatic 9–0 victory.

After two minutes of added time, centre referee Ibrahim Nguru Chara brought the encounter to an end.

Speaking after the match, Emmanuel praised CP Strikers for accepting the invitation and putting up a spirited performance despite the heavy defeat.

“I am highly honoured that you answered our invitation to come and play against us. It was a good game, and you played well.

“I am looking forward to seeing more from this team when we return from our continental engagement. Keep working hard. You are a very good team, and I commend you for your performance,” he said.

The friendly forms part of El-Kanemi Warriors’ preparations for their CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary-round encounter against Raja Casablanca, as the Nigerian side fine-tunes its squad ahead of the continental challenge.
