El-Kanemi Warriors FC have appointed experienced coach King Emmanuel as their new Technical Adviser ahead of the 2026/27 season. The former Akwa United and Dakkada International boss has been given the responsibility of leading the Maiduguri club back to the Nigeria Premier Football League while guiding the team in the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup.
The official unveiling took place on Friday at the Colonel Abdulmumin Aminu Camp in Maiduguri. Members of the club's management board, technical crew and support staff attended the ceremony as the club confirmed its plans for the new campaign.
Club Chairman Alhaji Waziri Isa Mai Qatar formally introduced Emmanuel to the media and expressed confidence in the coach's ability to help the club achieve its ambitions. He welcomed the new Technical Adviser and praised his decision to accept the role in Borno State.
Mai Qatar also urged Emmanuel to work closely with the existing coaching staff, assuring him that the management would provide every necessary support to ensure success.
"I warmly welcome you as our new Technical Adviser. I am pleased by your statement that Maiduguri is a safe place to work. I also urge you to work closely with the existing coaching staff. We will provide you with maximum support to ensure we achieve our objectives," the chairman said.
Vice Chairman Baba Maliki also pledged the club's full backing, promising that the management would stand behind the new coach throughout his tenure.
Responding after his unveiling, Emmanuel thanked the Borno State Government for the opportunity to lead the club. He specifically acknowledged Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum and the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Comrade Saina Buba, for the confidence shown in him.
The coach promised to work tirelessly to secure an immediate return to the NPFL after the club's relegation. He also expressed confidence that El-Kanemi Warriors could make a positive impact in the CAF Confederation Cup despite the demands of continental football.
Emmanuel arrives with considerable coaching experience in Nigerian football. He has previously managed Akwa United and Dakkada International and possesses strong academic and professional qualifications, including a Bachelor of Science in Physical and Health Education, a Master's degree in Public Order and Information Management, a Higher Diploma in Football Training, and both CAF A and CAF B coaching licences.
Several key club officials attended the presentation, including Team Manager IBB, Welfare Officer Usman Zumami, Chief Security Officer DSP Umar Musa, Chief Coach Bakaka Kalli, Coach Ishaq Hussain, Coach Hussain Usman, Coach Ibrahim Imam and other members of the backroom staff as El-Kanemi Warriors officially began a new chapter under Emmanuel's leadership.
