Nigeria National League (NNL) club Eko United are close to appointing experienced tactician Oladunni Oyekale as their new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Reports indicate that negotiations between the club and Oyekale have reached an advanced stage, with the deal expected to be finalised later this week.
The appointment forms part of Eko United's plans to strengthen their technical setup as they prepare for another campaign in the Nigeria National League.
Oyekale arrives with considerable coaching experience, having managed several clubs across Nigeria and West Africa. His most recent role was with Dragon FC in the Benin Republic, where he gained valuable experience working in the country's top-flight league.
The veteran coach has also previously handled Nigeria Premier Football League side Gombe United and former Nigeria National League club Crown FC, earning a reputation for developing competitive teams and working effectively with young players.
If the agreement is completed as expected, Oyekale's immediate priority will be building a squad capable of challenging for promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League. Eko United are determined to improve on their recent performances and return to Nigeria's top division.
The Lagos-based club is expected to strengthen its playing squad during the transfer window, with the new coach likely to play a major role in recruitment and pre-season preparations.
Promotion remains the club's primary objective, and the management believes an experienced coach will provide the leadership needed to achieve that target.
Oyekale is expected to begin work immediately after signing his contract, overseeing player assessments and preparations for the new campaign.
An official announcement from Eko United is anticipated once the final details of the agreement have been completed.
