Ekiti United FC have appointed experienced football tactician Jacob Vandi as their new head coach ahead of the 2026/2027 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
The appointment was announced by the Ekiti State Government through the Office of Sports Development as part of efforts to strengthen the club's technical crew ahead of the new campaign.
Vandi joins Ekiti United after spending two successful seasons in charge of Ekiti Queens FC, where he guided the team to retain its Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership status during the 2025/2026 season.
Before his spell with Ekiti Queens, Vandi served as Technical Adviser of Adamawa Queens between 2019 and 2024, earning recognition for nurturing players who progressed to represent Nigeria at the national level.
The former striker also worked as Technical Adviser and Assistant Coach of Adamawa United, adding to his wealth of experience in Nigerian football.
As a player, Vandi featured for clubs in Oman, Egypt, Sudan, and Nigeria, representing Gombe United, Adamawa United, and Jimeta United during his career.
His coaching achievements include winning the Nigerian Women Premier League Coach of the Season Award in 2019.
He is also a holder of a CAF C Licence and has completed advanced coaching programmes at the National Institute for Sports, alongside international certifications in performance analysis and coaching psychology.
The Office of Sports Development expressed confidence that Vandi's experience and leadership qualities will help instil discipline, tactical organisation, and a winning mentality as Ekiti United target a successful 2026/2027 NNL campaign.
With preparations for the new season gathering pace, Ekiti United will be hoping Vandi's experience and proven track record can guide the club in its bid to secure promotion and achieve its objectives in the Nigeria National League.
