Eke Reflects on Enyimba's revival, urges patience for greater success

Enyimba International FC Sporting Director, Daniel Eke, has expressed gratitude to the Abia State Government, club management, players, and supporters following the club's successful escape from relegation and eventual mid-table finish in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

Eke, who took charge during a difficult period for the nine-time Nigerian champions, said the collective effort of all stakeholders helped steer the club away from danger and laid the foundation for a brighter future.

According to him, preserving Enyimba's NPFL status became a personal mission inspired by a conversation with his wife, who believed that securing the club's top-flight status would be a fitting way to appreciate Governor Alex Otti's commitment to sports and youth development in Abia State.

"When I assumed responsibility, the club was in 17th position with a goal difference of minus six. Through hard work, determination, and the support of many people, we were able to finish the season in 11th position with a positive goal difference of plus two," Eke stated.

The Sporting Director reserved special praise for Governor Alex Otti, describing his support and commitment to sports development as instrumental to the club's resurgence. He also acknowledged the contributions of the Deputy Governor and the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, whom he credited for their trust and encouragement throughout the campaign.

Eke further appreciated the club's chairman for his leadership and steadfast support during what he described as a challenging period for the People's Elephant.

The youthful administrator also saluted Enyimba's loyal supporters for standing firmly behind the team despite the difficulties encountered during the season.

He commended the players and management staff for their dedication, sacrifice, and resilience, noting that their willingness to embrace change and fight for results played a key role in the club's recovery.

Looking ahead, Eke appealed to supporters to remain patient and continue backing the team, assuring them that plans are already underway to build a stronger and more competitive Enyimba side for the next campaign.

He concluded by giving thanks to God for guiding him through the challenging assignment and helping the club achieve its objective of retaining its place in the NPFL.

The successful turnaround highlights the resilience embedded within the club when stakeholders unite under strategic leadership. With the foundation now securely laid, the focus shifts entirely toward restructuring and recruitment to restore the People's Elephant to their traditional position at the summit of Nigerian football.
