Egypt are on the verge of booking their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup as they prepare to face Djibouti at the Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca, Morocco, on Wednesday, with kickoff schedule. A victory would see the Pharaohs secure qualification for the tournament, their fourth in history, regardless of other results in Group A.
Djibouti, at the bottom of Group A, have struggled throughout the campaign, collecting just one point from eight matches.
Their lone point came from a 1-1 draw with Ethiopia in June 2024, and they have since suffered heavy defeats, including a 6-0 loss to Burkina Faso and a 2-0 defeat against Guinea-Bissau. While already eliminated, Djibouti will aim to finish their campaign positively with a win.
At the top of the group, Egypt remain unbeaten in qualifying, recording six wins and two draws. Their most recent results include a 2-0 victory over Ethiopia and a goalless draw with Burkina Faso.
The Pharaohs currently have 20 points, five clear of second-placed Burkina Faso, meaning they could secure World Cup qualification with a win on Wednesday. Even a draw could suffice if Burkina Faso falters against Sierra Leone.
