Edo Queens Sign NWFL Player of the Season Adegbuyi from Robo Queens

Edo Queens have completed the signing of FC Robo Queens forward Oluwakemi Adegbuyi ahead of the 2026/27 season. The 16-year-old joins the reigning NWFL Premiership champions after an outstanding debut campaign at senior level.

Adegbuyi was named the 2025/26 NWFL Premiership Player of the Season after producing a series of impressive performances for Robo Queens. She also won the Golden Ball award following a campaign in which she scored 11 goals.

The teenager was particularly effective during the NWFL Super Six. She scored three goals on her debut in the championship phase and established herself as one of the most promising young attackers in Nigerian women's football.

Her form also earned her international recognition with the Flamingos. Adegbuyi played a key role as Nigeria's U-17 women's team secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco.

Adegbuyi scored four goals in four matches during the qualifying campaign. Her performances further strengthened her reputation as one of the leading young prospects in the country.

The forward began part of her development at the Asisat Oshoala Academy before progressing to FC Robo Queens. Her move to Edo Queens now represents another important step in her development.

Edo Queens secured the 2025/26 NWFL Premiership title and will represent Nigeria in the WAFU B qualifying competition for the CAF Women's Champions League. The Benin-based club won the domestic title to earn another opportunity to compete on the continental stage.

The club has previous continental experience. Edo Queens won the 2024 WAFU B CAF Women's Champions League qualifiers in Côte d'Ivoire and subsequently represented Nigeria at the 2024 CAF Women's Champions League.

Adegbuyi's arrival therefore gives the champions another attacking option as they prepare for their continental challenge. Her goalscoring record and experience from the Flamingos could add further strength to an already successful squad.

The transfer had been in the works before the official announcement. Reports in July indicated that Robo Queens had agreed to the move and would retain a sell-on clause as part of the deal.

For Robo Queens, the departure of their Player of the Season represents the loss of a key attacking talent. For Edo Queens, the signing provides an opportunity to add one of Nigeria's brightest young players to a squad preparing to defend its domestic status and compete for continental honours.
