NWFL Matchday 10 Review: Edo Queens Shine as Key Results Reshape Title Race

Posted : 12 March 2026

Matchday 10 of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) season produced thrilling contests, decisive victories, and dramatic late moments across several centres as the battle for league supremacy intensified.

The standout performance of the round came from Edo Queens, who delivered a ruthless attacking display to defeat Bayelsa Queens 4–1. The hosts raced into an early advantage when Atume Doosuur struck in the fourth minute, setting the tone for a dominant first half.

Chioma Moses doubled the lead just five minutes later before Doosuur grabbed her second in the 13th minute to put the home side firmly in control. Moses completed the scoring spree in the 30th minute as Edo Queens effectively wrapped up the contest before halftime.

Ibom Angels also enjoyed an impressive outing with a 3–1 victory over Naija Ratels. Happiness Agboye opened the scoring in the eighth minute and later added her second of the match after Godsgift Afigbediator had converted from the penalty spot in the 28th minute. Chekwube Oneje managed a consolation goal for Naija Ratels in the 38th minute, but the hosts remained comfortable throughout.

At the Ekiti Queens home ground, the hosts secured a 2–0 win over Heartland Queens in a composed performance. Kaosarat Olamide Olanrewaju broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute, while Amarachi Okoronkwo extended the advantage shortly after the restart in the 46th minute to seal the victory.

There was little to separate Delta Queens and Nasarawa Amazons, who played out a 1–1 draw. Anesthesia Terfa put Delta Queens ahead late in the first half, but Ayowunmi Omosuyi restored parity early in the second period to ensure both sides shared the spoils.

One of the most dramatic moments of the round came in the clash between Confluence Queens and Abia Angels. The visitors took an early lead in unusual fashion when Onyedikachi Ekezie inadvertently scored an own goal in the fifth minute. Hannah Yusuf equalised for Abia Angels in the 54th minute, but Emmanuel Seember struck deep into stoppage time to secure a 2–1 victory for Confluence Queens.

Elsewhere, Dannaz Ladies edged Osun Babes 1–0, courtesy of Fausat Idris’ decisive strike in the 75th minute.

Pacesetter Queens recorded a 2–0 win over Adamawa Queens, with Hikmat Adewale opening the scoring in the 51st minute before Esther Kaase added a late second in the 80th minute.

In another closely fought contest, Ahudiyannem Queens secured an important 2–1 away victory against Remo Stars Ladies. Uduakobong Monday gave the visitors the lead in the 34th minute before Daniella Fagbenro equalised just before halftime. Mary Lucky eventually netted the winner in the 64th minute to seal all three points.

With several top sides recording crucial victories and others dropping points, Matchday 10 has further intensified the race for honours as the NWFL Premiership season continues to gather momentum.
