Edo Queens Begin Fresh Chapter Ahead of CAF Women’s Champions League

Reigning WAFU-B champions Edo Queens FC will resume training on Wednesday as the Nigeria league champions begin their build-up for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League in South Africa.

The Benin City-based side have enjoyed a two-week break following their outstanding triumph at the WAFU-B zonal championship in Burkina Faso, where they secured their place among Africa’s leading women’s club sides.

With the continental tournament scheduled for October/November, attention now shifts to ensuring the Queens are physically and tactically prepared for the demands of the competition.

Training is expected to focus on fitness, tactical organisation, team cohesion and other key areas as Edo Queens seek to translate their regional success into a strong continental campaign.

The resumption will also see head coach Moses Aduku return to the fold after missing the WAFU-B tournament due to national team commitments.

Aduku recently travelled to Poland with some members of the Edo Queens squad as part of the Falconets’ engagement and will now take charge of the team as preparations for the CAF Women’s Champions League gather momentum.

Having conquered the WAFU-B zone, Edo Queens will now face a significantly bigger challenge on the continental stage, with their preparations aimed at ensuring they arrive in South Africa ready to compete.

The Queens will be hoping to carry the confidence and momentum from their regional success into the CAF Women’s Champions League and further underline their status as Nigeria’s reigning champions.
