DURFCT opens in Katsina as young talents chase European football dreams

The second edition of the Dikko Umaru Radda Football Scouting Tournament (DURFCT) has commenced at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina, bringing together some of the most promising young football talents from across northern Nigeria.

The three-day talent discovery programme is organised by the Katsina Football Academy in partnership with Belarusian club FC Torpedo-BelAZ Zhodino Prolex, with the aim of identifying exceptional players capable of pursuing professional football careers in Europe.

A total of six teams are participating in the scouting tournament, including Deliberate Academy Kaduna, Katsina Football Academy Team A, Katsina Football Academy Team B, Katsina United FC U-19, Moha Sherrif Academy, and Musa Haro Academy.

The tournament provides a unique platform for young footballers to demonstrate their technical abilities, tactical awareness, and overall potential before a team of local and international scouts.

Speaking at the opening of the event, organisers reiterated their commitment to creating pathways for talented Nigerian players to gain international exposure and access professional opportunities abroad.

Beyond player selection, the scouting programme is expected to contribute to grassroots football development in Katsina State and neighbouring regions by encouraging academies to invest more in youth development and structured training programmes.

At the end of the tournament, outstanding performers will be shortlisted and assessed for possible opportunities with clubs and football development programmes in Europe.

The organisers expressed optimism that the competition would uncover future stars capable of representing Nigeria at both club and international levels, while also strengthening ties between Nigerian football academies and European football institutions.
