2024 NLO: Dino FC hold high flying Best Talent to 2-2 draw in Shagamu

After 90 minutes filled with great football artistry, grit, skills, and mesmerizing displays, Dino FC and the table-topping Best Talent FC faced off at Ebedei Stadium, Shagamu Centre, Ogun State, ending the match in a 3-3 stalemate on Match Day 3 of the Nationwide League One.


Best Talent FC's Technical Adviser, Coach Yinka Popoola Gullit, began the third-tier journey well, with his side netting 12 goals and conceding only 2 in the first two games. However, he was unable to maintain faith in the starting lineup from the previous encounter due to five of his starters being sidelined in the medical room.


Despite the setback, the Mowe outfit took the lead in the 8th minute through Ojo Busayo, while Azeez Tijani doubled the lead in the 35th minute. However, Dino FC quickly responded, narrowing the gap with a goal in the 37th minute.


The second half was full of drama, and a disappointing goalkeeping error proved to be Best Talent's undoing as they conceded a cheap equalizing goal. Despite making substitutions, the team couldn't regain control of the match.


Saturday is a rest day, while Match Day 4 continues on Sunday at the NLO Playoff at Shagamu Centre.


Coach Yinka Popoola Gullit, a former assistant coach at 3SC, commented, "I give glory to God and I appreciate my boys for their relentless efforts, even amidst injury worries. The injuries affected five of my starters and disrupted my game plan, but overall, I acknowledge them and thank God. The job is not yet done, and the top spot is not completely out of reach. We still have a significant number of matches to make up ground and return to the summit. I have complete confidence in my boys; if the officiating is fair, they know what is at stake and will get the job done in the subsequent matches."
