Dick Advocaat Assists Feyenoord in Pursuit of Rangers Defender Emmanuel Fernandez

Feyenoord have enlisted the help of former Rangers manager Dick Advocaat to lead their pursuit of defender Emmanuel Fernandez. The Dutch giants are eager to beat several European rivals to the signature of the Nigerian international. Advocaat is reportedly serving as a specialist advisor to head coach Robin van Persie during this process.

The 24-year-old center-back arrived at Ibrox from Peterborough United only last summer. Since his move to Scotland, his stock has risen significantly due to a series of dominant defensive displays. This form has caught the eye of Premier League scouts from both Arsenal and West Ham United.

Advocaat is using his deep knowledge of the Glasgow club to help Feyenoord navigate a potential deal. The Rotterdam-based side views Fernandez as a cornerstone for their planned squad rebuild. They are preparing for a major overhaul ahead of the 2026/2027 Eredivisie campaign.

Scouting efforts have already moved into an advanced stage according to recent reports. Feyenoord officials recently watched Fernandez in person during Rangers' high-scoring 6-3 victory against Falkirk. The defender has become a vital part of the starting lineup since Danny Röhl took over the managerial reins.

Fernandez initially struggled for consistent game time under former boss Russell Martin. However, his recent resurgence has helped Rangers maintain their current push for the Scottish Premiership title. His performances in Glasgow have also solidified his place within the Super Eagles international setup.

The Dutch club is expected to step up negotiations as the summer transfer window approaches. Rangers may face a difficult task in keeping the defender given the level of interest from the Eredivisie and England. For now, Fernandez remains focused on finishing the current season strongly in Scotland.
