The Delta State Sports Commission has officially announced the reconstitution of its foremost female football club, Delta Queens FC, in preparation for the upcoming 2025/2026 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) season.
The announcement was made via an official statement signed by the Commission’s Director of Public Relations, Franka Okonma, following the formal dissolution of the previous management and technical team after an underwhelming 2024/2025 campaign.
Awhana Mercy returns as General Manager, bringing her wealth of experience and administrative strength to the newly restructured setup. She will work alongside Samson Keshi, a UEFA-certified coach and former manager of Naija Ratels FC, who has been appointed as the club’s new Head Coach.
Keshi’s European training and tactical expertise are expected to help Delta Queens achieve their objectives for the new season.
Keshi will be assisted by Maureen Eke, the gold medal-winning coach at the last National Sports Festival, and Susan Joy Aliya, while Njoku Okechukwu takes over as Goalkeeper Trainer.
